Storefront School
For a number of years, the children of the Storefront School in Harlem, New York have enjoyed a summer camp on Sterling City Road in Lyme. Their presence in our community helped to establish a friendship between our church and their school in Harlem, a remarkable school, started by a poet, that emphasizes a classical education for the young people of that community. Over the years of this partnership, our church has helped to build and fix up the facilities for their campsite in Lyme, provided counselors and volunteers in a variety of capacities, and every summer, our families have been enriched by hosting the young people of Harlem in their homes for an evening of fun and friendship. We have also had the pleasure of visiting their school in Harlem, watching their Shakespeare productions, and seeing first hand how their students benefit from such an extraordinary educational institution.
