OUR VISION AND COVENANT
for the
YOUTH PROGRAM
(please scroll down)

Our hope is that children will:

Ø    learn that God created heaven and earth out of love, and that we are all part of God’s loving creation

Ø   feel the unbounded love of God around them, through them, and within them

Ø   learn that Jesus Christ was a gift of love from God, and through him we know how God wants us to live our lives.

Ø   learn that the Bible is a book that is applicable to our modern lives.

Ø    learn that all people in the world are equal members of God’s family and  should be valued, respected, and treated with dignity.

Ø    develop a growing spirituality based on prayer and being in community  with one another

Ø   learn to listen to others thoughtfully and respectfully

In cooperation with parents, we:

Ø     communicate a way of thinking about God as a personal, loving force “in whom we live and breathe and have our being.”

Ø     see Jesus Christ as “God’s Living Word” in our daily lives and to put our faith in to action.

Ø     create a church school community that exemplifies hospitality

Ø      welcome questions and describe faith as a life-long journey – rather than a fixed destination

Ø     encourage our youth to cross boundaries of culture, income, race, religion, and nation

Ø     encourage spiritual practices in daily life such as prayer, volunteerism, study of scripture, that can form the basis of lifelong faith development.

Our Classroom Covenant

I have a right…

To be treated with kindness in this room.

This means that no one will laugh at me, or ignore me.

            I will be welcomed.

I have a right…

To be myself in this room.

This means that people will treat me with respect.

            I will be valued.

I have a right…

To be safe in this room.

This means that no one will hit me, kick me, push me, or pinch me.

I will be able to reach out.

I have a right…

To hear and be heard in this room.

This means that no one will yell – scream—or shout.

And my ideas, opinions, and dreams will be considered.

            I will have a voice.

I have a right…

To learn about myself in this room.

This means that I will be free to express my feelings and opinion without being interrupted or ignored.

I will learn from my teachers, my peers, and they from me.

Schedules

Young people up to the eighth grade begin worship at 9:00 am in the meetinghouse
then leave for their classes during the service.
New children are welcome to join us at any time.

The Senior High Pilgrim Fellowship meets as announced

And........We Always Need Adult Volunteers!

We have many ways adults can help with our ministry to children.  Volunteer to lead a Sunday workshop for a few weeks in your area of expertise.  Help children with a special project on Sunday or during the week.   Help with administrative tasks during the week.  We have jobs to fit your schedule and interests.  Come and see how volunteering can both help children grow in faith and enrich your own faith journey.
