We
celebrate—get this folks—Ned Castner’s 50th anniversary as an
ordained minister! After graduating from Cornell and Union Theological
Seminary, he was ordained as a Presbyterian Minister in 1956. For the
next 40 years he served many individual churches and the Presbyterian
Church organization. Very fortunately for us, he decided never to fully
retire and joined us as Minister of Visitation in 1997. Countless people
have benefited from his skill and compassion in visitation, and we love
having him and Wanda among us. Congratulations Ned, this is indeed a
significant and joyous landmark for us all.

We also
celebrate the 30th anniversary of Carleen’s service with us as Minister
of Music and Senior Associate minister. Carleen earned a degree in Music
and Education from Wheaton College, and in 1976 found herself at our
organ console. She has since not stopped helping us make beautiful
music. She earned her divinity degree from the University of South
Africa in 1995 specializing in missions. She was ordained here in 1996
and continues devoted leadership to our church’s music and mission
programs. Congratulations, Carleen, and also to Don for supporting you
in all your service to us.

We also
celebrate this year, and especially today, the 30th anniversary of
David’s service with and for us as Senior Minister. After graduating
from Purdue and Yale Divinity School, David and Corinne came to this
church in 1975. David was ordained here in 1976. He has since
unceasingly dedicated his career and heart and soul to this congregation
as minister, pastor and preacher. He is a true leader who always strives
and encourages us to make this a “place of grace” and a real
“demonstration plot for the Kingdom of God”. Congratulations, David, and
thank you! |
